CHA REGION 7 CONFERENCE
 
March 24, 2010 in Birmingham, Alabama. Join us for food, fun, and lots of "horsin' around!" This conference will include workshops geared specifically toward the group riding program with lots of opportunities for hand-on participation and riding. Thursday, March 25 is optional for those who would like additional opportunities for specialized topics. 
 
WHO? Even if you are not a current member of CHA, you are welcome to attend - trainers, instructors, farm managers, program directors, and riders of all disciplines are encouraged to participate. CHA Members from other regions are also welcome.  
 
WHAT? Wednesday workshops will include: 
v  Suitability and Selection of Horses
v  Acquiring and Divesting Horses – Beg, Borrow, Steal, or Give Away
v  Risk Management for the Group Equestrian Program – a simple, take home system to assess and address equine related risks
v  How to Keep your Horses Healthier for Less $
v  Paperwork and Record Keeping
v  Sequencing Lessons: Milestones in Rider Readiness
v  Understanding CHA Equine Facility Standards 
 
If you choose to attend on Thursday, workshop content can be customized to include topics of interest to you and your program.
·         Specialties that that you may want to incorporate into your program (driving, vaulting, showmanship, trail, roping, etc.)
·         Starting young horses and re-schooling older horses
·         Resistance free horsemanship
·         Selecting equipment and supplies
·         Private or small group mounted lessons on topics of interest to each participant
 
WHEN?    Wednesday, March 24(9:00 AM - 7:00 PM) earn 10 hours Continuing Education
OPTIONAL Thursday, March 25 (9:00 AM - 3:30 PM) earn additional 6 1/2 hours Continuing Education
 
WHERE? The conference will be based at Camp Coleman (Trussville, AL) near Birmingham, AL. Some workshops may be held at nearby sites. Transportation to these sites will be arranged through car pooling. If you are flying, please plan to fly into Birmingham International (BHM). We will be glad to arrange shuttle service.
 
WHY? Besides having a great time, meeting some great people, and learning some new skills, you can earn up to 16 ½ hours continuing education required for recertification if you attend both days!  Please make plans now to join us for this event.
 
CONFERENCE FEE? The $60 per day conference fee includes:
v  Workshops + lunch on Wednesday
v  Additional $60 fee for Thursday (optional)  
v  Rustic, bunkhouse lodging available for an additional $10 per night per person*
